The meat packaging industry handles the processing, preparation, packing and distribution of meat including cattle, hogs, chickens, turkey and other farm animals. They also help maintain the freshness of the meat for much longer than regular shrinkwraps and plastic wraps. Plastic wraps will normally degrade after just a few months, and that means the meat will start to smell after a few months of storage. Non-irradiated wraps will last for many years and will not degrade or smell.
